Our Purpose

The Church of the Nazarene is a global faith community, united by our commitment to making Jesus Christ the Lord of our lives. We seek to strengthen one another in faith and express Christ’s compassion to all. Our mission is to make Christlike disciples of all nations, spreading scriptural holiness and Christ-like living.


We believe in a deeper Christian life—one where victory over sin, power to witness, and richer fellowship with God are experienced through the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit.


As part of the Nazarene faith, each local congregation is a community where you can grow as a disciple of Jesus. With over 12,000 churches worldwide, we are committed to reaching the world with the message of Christ's love, forgiveness, and hope.


What is the North Central Ohio District?

The North Central Ohio District advances God’s kingdom by supporting local churches in fulfilling the mission of the Church of the Nazarene. With 64 churches and 5 compassionate ministries across 22 counties, our district stretches from Columbus to Lake Erie and encompasses cities like Delaware, Marion, Wooster, and Cleveland.


Our district family is dedicated to reaching this generation with the power of the Gospel. Together, we are committed to fulfilling the Great Commission without delay.

  • One God

    We believe in one God who has expressed Himself in personal ways. We know God's personality as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

  • Authority of Scripture

    We believe the Bible communicates God's saving message and is our reliable authority in all matters related to faith and Christian living.

  • Human Struggle

    We believe that all humankind struggles with a downward pull.

  • Need for Salvation

    We believe that unless we experience God's help and salvation through a faith commitment to Jesus Christ, our future is one of eternal separation from God and all that is good.

  • Grace and Love

    We believe the love and grace of God is extended to every person in the provision Jesus Christ made in his death and resurrection. By turning from our own selfishness and trusting Jesus Christ, we experience a new life, being freed from the old patterns of self-destructive acts called sin.

  • Transformation in Christ

    We believe our new life in Jesus Christ is the gateway to transformation. Following our moment of faith in Jesus, we believe there is another moment in which we present our life completely to Christ in order to live under His authority and experience His transforming power.

  • Christian Assurance

    We believe that Christian experience is more than a change of mind. It is accompanied by assurance that is grounded in both the Scriptures as well as the inner witness of God's Spirit.

  • Eternal Future

    We believe that all who live for Jesus Christ have an eternal future. Our belief in such a future includes both the fulfillment of God's creative purpose as well as the accountability of all persons endowed with the power of choice.
